We are thrilled to announce our third season of shows, outreach, and community events - and our fundraiser to support it all!
Our third season will include two amazing plays: Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice directed by Charles Askenaizer and Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun directed by Aaron Reese Boseman. We will also continue Shakespeare in the Courts, our outreach program focusing on juvenile detention diversion, where educators from Invictus rehearse and perform Shakespeare with youth in the Cook County Probation system. This year, our Shakespeare in the Courts ensemble will perform The Tempest.
Invictus’s educators will also continue offering Beginning Monologue and Scene Study classes for professional actors, with several sessions of classes offered over the course of the season.
Finally, we invite you to kick off the fun with Guerilla Shakespeare, Volume III, where you can meet Invictus company members, enjoy impromptu performances, and more!
More than ever, we believe our mission of creating theatre that promotes a better understanding of language is important. We work to harness the power of language to promote diversity, to engender respect, to foster collaboration, and to empower our communities to share their voices, and we can’t do it without your support.

Summer 2019
Shakespeare in the Courts, Invictus’s successful outreach program in collaboration with the Cook County Probation Department Art Therapy Unit will reconvene in Summer 2019. Shakespeare in the Courts pairs educators from Invictus with youth currently in the Cook County Probation system to study and perform Shakespeare. This year, our troupe will perform scenes from The Tempest. Shakespeare in the Courts provides youth with a safe, welcoming space in which they can positively express themselves, form positive and healthy relationships with peers and mentors, and develop confidence and self-awareness. The goal of our program is to reduce recidivism among juvenile justice involved youth. Learn more about Shakespeare in the Courts here.
